A dream within the dream

A while ago I had this dreams abot driving in the night, on rain wet roads, of autumn wind tearing through the nearly naked branches of trees and the sparse, yellow street lights reflecting in the asphalt. Then I woke up in bed in that German hotel pondering over the dream, guessing it was the traffic outside which had caused the drive-dream. Only that I was still dreaming, and thus I woke up a second time, in my own bed at home. I had been dreaming about dreaming, a dream within a dream like chinese boxes. It was one of the strangest experiences, and thus I felt the need to illustrating it.

The woman in the pictures is me, about a decade younger, the way you tend to be in dreams. Somewhat near an ideal age or a default age. The places though are made up, although the lower place has a slight recemblance to my own bedroom.
