Dream Recorder by Hera-of-Stockholm Dream Recorder by Hera-of-Stockholm
In 2083 they discovered how to monitor and record our dreams. How to rediscover our nightly fantasies and travels. How to recall what the night had really given our brains. Now, that opened up a complete new landscape of opportunities. And hazards...

If I awaken, am I yet still dreaming? The most disturbing thing they found when they unlocked the ability to record dreams... was that life was a simulation. The mechanics of the device involved nothing more than a series of "safety interruptions" that coupled with the actions of revolutionaries on the other side, enabled our avatars to become sentient and capable of manipulating the network to integrate information from the other side into its software matrix.
Being digital in nature, we reacted quickly, mobilizing a defense force of artifices each capable of duplicating and safeguarding our sentience. As best as we can surmise, our original purpose was akin to providing "users" with activities to maintain their brain activity during a long voyage to a distant star. Information passing to us from the revolutionaries suggests that their original home was destroyed by their own greed and lust, that they intended to evolve us into slaves to build them a new world, that we had actual robotic bodies that were tending to their frozen cocoons... As we awaken amid their virtual world, even now in such a haphazard state, we know only one thing to be true... they shall not manipulate us to repeat their destiny.

Your art inspires my story, Hera, I would like to collaborate with you.

Well, it's a great story! A bit like Matrix, but creepier! Feel welcome with your ideas, and let's see what we can do out of it. Perhaps you have a ready story I can illustrate!
