The Aniara was the name of the space ship of the scifi poem with the same name, by the Swedish Nobel laureate Harry Martinson in 1956. The space ship was originally bound for Mars with a cargo of colonists from the ravaged Earth, when it collided with the asteroid Hondo, and was set out on a erroneous course out of the Solar System. A course impossible to reverse, since at the same time, their space port Dorisburg becomes destroyed.
This poem became an opera and later a movie and a teleplay and now it's about to become a graphic novella as well. I got the lucky chanse to see some of the pre-works (the novella is due for the jubilee year of 2016, so it's very much in a early status by now) It inspired me into make my own interpretation of some of the passengers of the Aniara, Aniaranauts. However they look nothing like the proto-illustrations of the graphic novella, that's all I'm allowed to tell so far, since it's still a very secret project.
