MoonwalkingAnd I'm not talking Jackson here, may his poor soul rest in peace. But Armstrong and his posse who were the first men to walk the moon 30 years ago. That sure was an amazing achievement, the whole Apollo project in fact was, and IMO it should have been among the modern Seven Wonders of the World, instead of some other stuff that became voted in. Because even if some people just regard it as an expensive geek dream it actually spawned a lot of goodies for mankind. Without the Apollo projects we wouldn't have gore-tex, fleece, teflon, fire-safe textiles, ball pens and a lot of other goods.
On top of that it was fodder for a lot of Sci-Fi dreams, there has been astronauts and rockets in art, literature, movies, TV, games - even opera these 30 years that no doubt were inspired by the Apollo project. And I doubt that without it we wouldn't have Star Trek, Star Wars, ET and a lot of other classics to enjoy. At lest not in the magnificent way we have been able to do over the last 3 decades.
Sure that called for some celebrations, including special exhibitions at museums and a lot of TV specials. And also for the conspiration theorists to pop up and yell
The lunar landing never happened – it was all staged. And then they list a lot of "proof" for that, one more ridiculous than the other, like how the shadows were falling, the absence of stars in the pictures, that the US flag appeared to be "fluttering" in the movie sequences. And the best of all: "A kid could have photoshopped those pics". Well darling, I bet it could have – if Photoshop was around back then
Which leads me smoothly into the next subject...
Napoleon never existedAt least according to this centuries old conspiration theory, where they try to prove that the French conqueror wasn't real, that his entire life was just made up of a melee of old myths, mostly considering Apollo – yeah the very Greek god who sponsored the famous NASA project
You find the proof that Napoleon was made up and that his wars were staged here:

So we finally got our elevators in our apartment building. We've been waiting for those for years now. First we contracted a company which went bankrupt and took several of our invested money with them in the fall. Next thing they had a deliverer who promised to continue to work for us, only that he tried to set us up and charge us from here to kingdom come for stuff we had already paid for.
In consequence the work begun to find a new company to finish the contstruction. Which wasn't really that easy because there was no company who wanted to take over a half-finished job. But in the end and after inversting a lot of money and time on research we found this Västerås kompany (Västerås is a city in central Sweden, a bit west of Stockholm) who wanted to start a business in Stockholm and they were interested in continuing our work.
So after a lot of negotiation we had a deal and they started working on our half finished project (We had a hole in the staircase hall with wires and stuff - but no elevators) and after working for 5 monts we were finally beginning to see the end. Now finally we've got our elevators. And did they turn out fancy! After 2 years of keep dreaming I can finally enter a box and push a button marked 3 if I don't wanna walk up 3 stairs. OK I usually do that because it's not that hard but it's nice when you have shopping bags and stuff to be able to ride instead of work.
And they are old fashioned too. Very Victorian, and fits well with a house built in 1885.
