Catwalking - a tragic subject
I guess we've all seen them. The girls on the catwalk, showing off Haute Couture in cities like Milano, Madrid, New York and elsewhere. They have always been thin, at least since the era of Twiggy, but I guess it has been getting worse over the last decade or so.

Saw a docu on TV the other night called Catwalking. It was about what's really going on behind the stages of the fascion centres of the world. About those girls being nothing but skin and bones, looking more like they have been just let out of a concentration camp than off the spotlight of a fashion catwalk. And how more than half of them were considered having a bad case of anorexia.

There were stories about a Brazilian model who had died of malnourishment being only 21. And another, one year older who also died, in the middle of a show. Her kidneys had stopped working, due to constant malnourishment. About an Italian girl showing off her nude body – and in those pictures she looked more like an old old old lady than anything else. Haggard and worn and with her breasts – usually a young woman's pride – looking like empty tea-bags, like she had breastfeed half a dozen children.

One girl who had jumped off the carousel and wanted to remain anonymous told creepy stories. She told that she and her colleagues were not allowed to eat like normal people. How they were given pills to alter and postpone their periods so they should not accumulate water – and thus look fatter. And how they were spied at, and one girl who was caught eating at McDonalds became threatened that they might en her contract. What is that if not slavery?

It was dreadful all in all, and I wonder – who are the ones demanding that human beings should look like that. In whose interest is it done? At least I can't imagine any of us final customers demanding that.  But there were some lights in the dark, like Spanish authorities banning the size zero (smallest size of couture clothes, in comparison it can be said that "normal" women wear clothes between 8 and 14)

Spiders!!! :O_o:
This time of year is when the spiders go to sleep, and to find the most cozy places they chose to go inside, into our homes, offices and other building. My workplace is far from an exception in this case. The spiders usually get in via vine growing on the walls and trough open windows. And we have a lot of that at work - the latter because our AC only works so-so and it smells of rotten eggs in the mornings.

So the little 8leggers find their way in climbing the vine and trough the window. And then I bet they seat themselves and spy until they smell fear and then they attack :evillaugh:

The other day it was this colleague screaming out loud, and it sounded like she was dying or having a baby or something (or just crashed her hard drive) and everyone came running with worried faces. It turned out that a spider had fallen down in her hair. It sure was an itty bitty one but that does not help if you have a phobia.

You are The Empress
Beauty, happiness, pleasure, success, luxury, dissipation.

The Empress is associated with Venus, the feminine planet, so it represents,
beauty, charm, pleasure, luxury, and delight. You may be good at home
decorating, art or anything to do with making things beautiful.

The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business. While the Magician is the primal spark, the idea made real, and the High Priestess is the one who gives the idea a form, the Empress is the womb where it gestates and grows till it is ready to be born. This is why her symbol is Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so, the Empress is more Demeter, goddess of abundance, then sensual Venus. She is the giver of Earthly gifts, yet at the same time, she can, in anger withhold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. In fury and grief, she kept the Earth barren till her child was returned to her.

I've heard about that Brazilian girl. Tomato and apple were her only meal everyday.
